Application Notes: DND and Panasonic DECT Handsets
Premium Widgets offer an extremely diverse selection of products and services, but only have one phone line. It is important for them to be able to answer the phone in a manner which tells their callers which 'section' they have reached. Examples: 08703210000 - Video Widgets, 08703210100 - Widget Travel, 08703211000 - Widget Shipping.
For their 'Switchboard', they chose a Panasonic DECT KX-TCD735E, which features: An integral address book, 20 selectable ringtones, 9 caller-groups and 3 backlight screen colours.
They requested their service provider to activate Caller Display on their phone line. Then they logged into their Account and activated DND on all their FleXtel numbers. They then programmed each number into the address book and labelled it with the respective department. Each department was given a distinctive ringtone, caller-group and screen colour. They set:
Video Widgets has a phone number of 08703210000, Panasonic 'Ringtone One' and backlit colour of orange.
Widget Travel has a phone number of 08703210100, Panasonic 'Ringtone Two' and backlit colour of green.
Widget Shipping with a phone number of 08703211000, Panasonic 'Ringtone Three' and backlit colour blue.
Now, when a call comes in, the phone rings uniquely to indicate which department is being called. The display name and colour supports this, acting as a prompt for the correct announcement. Pauline (the Widget Receptionist) now knows how to answer each call correctly. Caller dials:
- 08703210000 - "Welcome to Video Widgets, how can I help you? ".
- 08703210100 - "Thank you for calling Widget Travel, how may I direct your call? ".
- 08703211000 - "Widget Shipping... ".
