An example: Two friends meet over MSN or Yahoo Instant Messenger. They want to make voice contact but don't yet fully know the other person that well to give them their mobile or home number. Either friend (or both) can easily obtain a free dating number for the other person to use. If things go well they can swap private numbers at some future time. If things don't go well, they simply disconnect their dating number and have no further worries.
